Congratulations to Tennessee City Fire Department and Vanleer Fire Department on receiving 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant monies provided by FEMA. Tennessee City Fire Department received $49,234.00 and Vanleer Fire Department received $22,565.00. Vanleer will be purchasing vehicle extrication equipment which they have never had before. Grants like these allow fire departments across the country to expand their services and update much needed equipment. As a fire service we would like to thank the Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for all that they have done for us over the past several years. Both departments received their grants on the first round of awards and we look to see more departments in the county get awarded in later rounds. Congratulations guys, keep up the good work.
